The Africa Policy Accelerator builds a community of emerging Africa-focused policy professionals in Washington — through mentorship, dialogue, and an alumni network spanning government, civil society, and industry.
Scroll to see what membership in the APA looks like — from cohort to network to lasting impact.
Each year, the APA selects a cohort of early- and mid-career professionals working on Africa across government, the private sector, civil society, and academia as well as professionals passionate about U.S.–Africa relations based on previous work or planned future career or interest. They meet monthly through the program year, building the relationships that anchor a career.
Sessions are intentionally small and off the record. Members debate live policy questions, exchange field experience, and hear from senior practitioners shaping the U.S.–Africa relationship.
From U.S. and African policymakers to corporate executives, journalists, and scholars, APA convenes the people whose work is shaping the continent — and gives members a seat at the table.
APA alumni stay connected long after the program year — through the alumni mailing list, recurring convenings, and a network now spanning hundreds of Africa-focused professionals across capitals.
